Malicious Super PAC Ads…A Hard Pill to "Swallow"

I am witness to a down and out nasty political campaign here in Utah...the Attorney General’s race.

While the Salt Lake County Mayoral race has been promoted in Utah as the General Election cycles “must watch,” the race for Attorney General is a bloodbath with first-time candidate Sean Reyes taking the majority of the Super PAC pot shots.

Unfortunately for Mr. Reyes, he is not privy to whose taking those shots due to today’s less than transparent election laws.

Nonetheless, I remain confident that as more Utahns listen to what Sean has to say about improving the Attorney General’s office, learn more about who he really is and what he has done for the community, his peers, colleagues and friends, Reyes will prevail on June 26.

What Swallow should realize is that sometimes good guys do get pissed off. And when they do, watch out!

Please take a minute to listen to Reyes’ response to the negative advertising that Reyes has called on Swallow to denounce. As of today, Swallow’s campaign continues to reject denouncing the downright lies perpetuated in these blatantly awful and untrue ads.

Yes...Sean Reyes—who was honored as the first-ever recipient of the National Young Lawyer of the Year by the ABA; who has actively practiced law in the courtroom for the largest law firm in Utah winning large and small cases at the local, state and Federal level; and who has the highest legal peer review rating achievable—has had enough.

It’s nothing new for Swallow—negative attacks have been his MO since 2002. After racking up multiple FEC violations and numerous headlines reporting Swallow’s admitted negative campaign tactics, I scratch my head and wonder...how does John Swallow sleep at night?!

How can Mr. Swallow mess with someone’s hard earned integrity and work ethic? Does he want to win that bad? Of course, I’m asking too much from Swallow who has issues about owning up to his own personal and professional missteps!

The means to the end do matter—I'll just leave it at that.

If you feel the same as I do, make sure to cast your vote for Sean Reyes on June 26!

Scott Walker Remains WI Governor, Commonsense Prevails!

The Scott Walker victory will undoubtedly go down in U.S. history as pivotal foreshadowing of what is to come in November.

Well, we Elephants can hope anyway.

It’s not about being an Elephant or an Ass (no pun intended). Rather, it’s about the inherent hope and change this country truly needs to turn it and its psyche around in a positive, liberty driven, God Bless America direction.

Sure, the stock market and global economy matter. They matter a lot. But I am convinced as I work through political campaigns for better and worse, that it is the American psyche and spirit which truly need healing right now.

I am a horse person. You might be thinking: what do horses have to do with American politics or healing as a country? Not much maybe, or maybe not.

Horses are fight or flight animals. They are also powerful animals. They are symbols of strength, nobility and majesty. They are movie stars and heroes too — War Horse, Black Beauty, Secretariat and Seabiscuit, to name a few.

We need more heroes and tonight Scott Walker symbolized everything in a horse hero that I imagine in any of the best horse heroes. Walker has heart, guts and a bravery that transcended status quo, Labor Union bosses, and the ugliest liberal Democrat strategists.

Walker prevailed against the “Obama for America” machine, he beat out the millions of dollars big labor union bosses pooled to support the baseless recall effort, and he triumphed just like Secretariat did when he smoked his opponents in the Belmont Stakes by 31 lengths to win the Triple Crown.

But what makes the victory even sweeter is Walker’s character — his emphasis on unifying and not dividing Wisconsinites (President Obama, are you listening?!).
“Now is the time for us to come together,” Walker told supporters after claiming victory. “Tomorrow we are all Wisconsinites.”
This one regional victory for the GOP, as sweet as it was, is just the start of putting commonsense at the forefront of the agenda and a referendum on how sick and weary Americans are of the dysfunctional policies Obama has implemented during his term.

November is only five months away. I just hope voters’ memories remain lucid as they enter the voting booths because Scott Walker’s win was more than just a notch in the belt for GOP; it is the stepping stone toward what I hope and pray is a better future for all Americans.
